Interview Guidelines for Nannies
We recommend that you always arrive smartly dressed and prepared for your interview. Have a file or case to hand with copies of your CV, certificates of qualification, First Aid and Enhanced DBS/CRB. We also recommend taking photocopies of your driving licence and any written references you may have. When the potential employer asks to see these you will look very organised and professional if you can leave copies with them.
Expect the interview to last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Be prepared to answer questions clearly and confidently and ensure you ask any questions that you feel you need an answer to.
What to expect from the interview
• To learn about them and their children
• To tell them about who you are and your likes
• To discuss the position requirements (this is where you can agree or not to light household duties such as shopping, ironing - don't be afraid to speak out if they ask something of you that you will not be happy doing, then just discuss this with them)
• To discuss formalities such as days and hours required, salary, holidays, use of car, babysitting requirements.
• To speak about previous positions you have held and a general discussion about your CV.
• At the end of the interview, you may find they introduce the children to you. This is a very important time for all of you. You need to relax and enjoy this moment, this is where you are at your very best and I'm sure it will all come naturally.
• Once again, when the opportunity arises, make sure you ask any questions you may have.
